Preventing Acnes From Occurring

Are you over the age of 25 but you feel as if you’re still in your adolescent period because you still have acne? If you are still suffering from pimples, blackheads, zits and more, then puberty has nothing to do with it. Clearing out acne problems isn’t easy. Before you extinguish them, you might want to prevent them from existing first.

To start with, you must adapt a healthy lifestyle. Clear out your acne problems by clearing out the toxins from your body, such as eating non-oily foods, avoiding alcoholic and caffeinated beverages, and drinking lots of water. Also, try to adapt a regular exercise schedule and avoid stress. Smoking also blocks our pores and adds toxins in our body, so that needs to be one of the things you should steer clear of. And of course, exercise good hygiene.

But what if you already have acne? You can keep acnes from happening, but for those that have already infested your face, you can still do something to get rid of them.

There are topical medicines that you can use to dry out pimples and acne problems fast. Over-the-counter medicines such as those containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid may be applied to mild to moderate cases. There are also those natural remedies that some people swear by. They recommend honey, oatmeal, ginger, and even plain ice to treat acnes.

However, if you have serious acne case, topical medicines are not enough.

Acnes should also be treated internally. As mentioned, topical medicines work for mild to moderate types of acne, but they can’t kill the source of the problem. There are oral antibiotic drugs that people can take to clear up their acne. However, those medicines, which may contain erythromycin or any of the tetracycline antibiotics, may have side effects that include discoloration of the teeth among others. So it is best to consult a skin doctor before drinking any oral medicines.

For women, acnes may be a recurring monthly thing. Their menstrual period may affect their hormonal level, causing their glands’ oil secretion. For others, taking oral contraceptives help in balancing their hormonal levels, thus helping flush out acnes.

Getting rid of acne problems has no perfect solution. What works for others may not work for some. But whatever measure you choose, taking a healthy lifestyle won’t hurt.
